The Science of Accoya®
Acetylation modifies the hydroxyl groups in wood cells — replacing them with acetyl groups that don't absorb moisture. The wood becomes dimensionally stable, biologically inert, and essentially immune to the swelling, shrinking, and rot that affects natural wood.
